The Four Hills Tournament starts in a week. Two DSV Eagles are in top form just in time for the start, but only one makes it onto the podium.

Felix Hoffmann showed a strong performance at the tour dress rehearsal and took second place at the first of the two World Cups in Engelberg. Only the Slovenian Domen Prevc was better than the DSV-Adler on Saturday in Engelberg. The leader in the overall World Cup ended up with 3.8 points more than the German. Philipp Raimund was also convincing and narrowly missed the podium in fourth place; the Japanese Ren Nikaido was just better.

Hoffmann flew over 141 meters in the second round. The DSV Adler himself described this on ZDF as a “very nice jump”. Hoffmann even won the qualification on Friday. Raimund reached 138 and 135 meters in the World Cup and was only inferior to Nikaido by 3.1 points.

Pius Paschke also showed an improved performance after his dip in form, jumping 130 meters in the second round and finishing the World Cup in 15th place. DSV talent Ben Bayer, who had joined the team for Andreas Wellinger, was eliminated after the first round despite jumping 127 meters. The best Austrian was Jonas Schuster in fifth place, Jan Jörl came eighth. Stefan Kraft and Daniel Tschofenig missed the top ten.

On Sunday we’ll get down to business again in Engelberg before the Four Hills Tournament begins after the short Christmas break. Then Andreas Wellinger and Karl Geiger, who are currently sitting out the World Cup to train, should also be there again.

Felix Hoffmann keeps his fingers crossed for them: “Maybe they’ll find something else that will help.” Now it’s time for the two experienced DSV Adler to take a breather over Christmas, said Hoffmann. And then? “Come along on the tour and support us.”
