King Felipe VI visited the headquarters of the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt on Wednesday before closing the state trip he has made to Germany with Queen Letizia since Monday, where he has had opportunity to greet a large group of Spaniards who work in that institution.

Don Felipe has been received by the president of the ECB, Christine Lagarde, and was accompanied on the visit by the First Vice President, Nadia Calviño, the Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, and the President of the Bank of Spain, Pablo Hernández de Cos. The Vice President of the ECB, the Spanish Luis de Guindos, was also present.

The King gave a few brief words to a large part of the Spaniards who work at the ECB, to whom he conveyed his “recognition and gratitude for the excellent work” that they carry out “for our common European cause” and also for the common currency, a “great success” that now reaches 20 years.

With this visit, Felipe VI brings to an end the state trip that, together with the Queen, began in Berlin on Monday, where he held two meetings with the German president, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and the chancellor, Olaf Scholz, and on Tuesday inaugurated the X Spanish-German Forum.

On Tuesday afternoon, the King and Queen inaugurated, together with the German president, the Frankfurt Book Fair, in which Spain is the guest country in this edition.

Don Felipe and Doña Letizia had the opportunity this morning to visit the Spanish exhibitors at the Fair accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Miquel Iceta, as well as his German counterpart, among others. During it, they have held a meeting with literary agents and have visited the stands of various autonomous communities such as Galicia, Asturias, Andalusia or Catalonia.

They have also visited the exhibitors of various publishers, such as Anaya, Penguin Random House and Anagrama, as well as other independent and children’s and youth literature. They have also had the opportunity to see the stands of art and design publishers.

Finally, in the Ágora space, together with the deputy director of the Prado National Museum, Andres Ubedahave toured the exhibition “The Prado in the streets” which consists of panels dedicated to a selection of the main masterpieces exhibited in the Madrid art gallery, from the 12th century to the early years of the 20th century.
