Canadian pop singer Feist has announced her sixth studio album after a five-year hiatus. The record will be called MULTITUDES (like the current Stromae album) and will be released on April 14th. On February 14, she released three of the twelve songs in advance.

There is already a video for “Hiding Out In The Open”, “Love Who We Are Meant To” and “In Lightning” only got visualizers so far. Prior to their availability, the artist presented all three tracks during a free Valentine’s Day livestream mini-concert. The video for “Hiding Out In The Open” was apparently created directly during this production.

Work on MULTITUDES began in the summer of 2021, when the singer played a series of intimate live shows of the same name in Europe, presenting and developing new material. She continued this practice in North America in 2022. The concept was created in response to the lockdown to the Covid 19 pandemic and was intended to bring people back together.

Just before these concerts began, at the height of the pandemic, two events occurred in Leslie Feist’s life that fundamentally changed it: she gave birth to her daughter and lost her father. In addition to the unusual set-up of the tour, the intimacy of which has now also been taken up again in the live stream, these two events have had a significant influence on their music.

The track listing of the album is as follows:

  • 01 – In Lightning
  • 02 – Forever Before
  • 03 – Love Who We Are Meant To
  • 04 – Hiding Out in The Open
  • 05 – The Redwing
  • 06 – I Took All Of My Rings Off
  • 07 – Of Womankind
  • 08 – Become The Earth
  • 09 – Borrow Trouble
  • 10 – Martyr Moves
  • 11 – Calling All The Gods
  • 12 – Song For Sad Friends

Fans also had to wait a long time for their last project, PLEASURE. It was released in 2017, also almost six years after METALS from 2011. In 2022 the singer supported Arcade Fire for two concerts. After allegations of sexual harassment against Win Butler, she left the tour again.
