Fedez: «What kind of useless martial art is karate?»

Indeed, in a recent episode of the Wild Moss podcast, Fedez and Luis Sal hosted MMA fighter Marvin Vettori. The dialogue with him touched several points and explored the characteristics of mixed martial arts. At some point, however, Fedez has decided to give a comment that is not at all positive about karate.

«Can we say that the only martial art that is useless is karate?», in fact he began. All adding some personal anecdotes dating back to her youth. «I am a blue belt in karate. And I’ve wasted years of my life learning about completely useless stuff. Like punching like this… But who the fuck punches like that?».

And he concluded. «They are goliardic moves…». MMA fighter Marvin Vettori, for his part, has not distanced himself from this statement. And he limited himself to a «I understand that there is little in practicality…».

The answer of the Olympic champion Busà

On the other hand, Olympic gold medalist Luigi Busà intervened in defense of the famous martial art originating from the island of Okinawa. The blue karateka, born in 1987, gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, commented on these statements on his social networks.

What in 2006 and 2012 was the youngest world champion of the World Karate Federation, he began. «I think that sport, like a song, can be liked or not. But I don’t think it’s useless».

«Karate is one of the oldest martial arts that exists and teaches respect and discipline for ourselves and for others. We all start from the same level from an early age. Up to the great champions who win European, World, up to the Olympics … Obviously we all have the same goal which is to play sports and promote the value of respect and equality».

And he clarified. «I make this video not to cause controversy but to defend karate and beyond. I’m here to defend the sport. Whatever it is…».

The his video ends with an invitation to Fedez. «I invite you to train together one day. I’d like you to discover how much beauty, how much technique and how much respect is hidden behind this wonderful sport. For all the guys who are listening to this message, I wanted to tell you: keep doing what you like, have faith in yourself and always defend what you believe in and you will never regret it».

Wild Moss moves to San Remo

Even if he doesn’t appear in the official cast of this year’s Big, Fedez will be one of the names of the next Sanremo Festival. It will be because first of all will appear as a guest of Article 31 in the evening of duets, that of Friday 10 February. And then, Fedez will be one of the artists who will perform, in one of the evenings, connected from the Costa Smeraldamoored right in the waters of Sanremo.

But that is not all. While his wife – the digital entrepreneur Clare Ferragni – she will be co-host of the Italian Song Festival alongside Amadeus and Gianni Morandi on the first and last evening of the event, Fedez will see his podcast on TV for the first time.

In fact, on the occasion of the Festival, his Wild Moss will be broadcast from 7 to 11 February at 18.45 on Rai2. The episodes (lasting fifteen minutes) will see the hosts Fedez and Luis Sal welcoming some guests. All within a location that will be created right in the City of Flowers. Like this their very popular podcast – who collects mind-boggling figures on YouTube – will make this major leap to the small screen. Despite the disagreements between the rapper and the national broadcaster.
