Federal Transport Minister visits Polish-Ukrainian border

MLYNY/BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing visited a refugee camp on the Polish-Ukrainian border on Saturday. It is important to him to get his own impression of the situation, said Wissing. “What you experience here is moving in the truest sense of the word.” It is also a question of respect for people that you meet them, even when they are in need and difficult, said the FDP politician in a refugee camp in Mlyny, right on the Polish-Ukrainian border.

According to a spokeswoman for Wissing, the delegation had previously been in Korczowa, also right on the border. In addition to Wissing, counterparts from Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria and France were also present, as well as EU Transport Commissioner Adina Valean. The First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko also attended the meetings.

Wissing spoke of an important signal to the people of Ukraine that not only Poland is supporting them, but also a community that has a very close eye on the Ukrainian population.
