The De Croo government reached an agreement on Monday evening about tackling the high energy prices. Until the end of September, for example, the VAT on electricity and gas will be reduced to 6 percent. Fuel oil users can count on a check for 200 euros and at the pump the excise duties for diesel and petrol will be reduced by 0.175 euros per litre, which means a discount of around 10 euros on a 60-litre tank. The package of measures has a cost of 1.3 billion euros.
