Brian May wrote some of the greatest songs from Queen. These include classics such as “We Will Rock You”, “Tie Your Mother Down” and “Fat Bottomed Girls”. Nevertheless, the guitarist felt uncertain every time he presented new song ideas from his band.

“Every time I showed the boys new songs, I was nervous like something else,” May said in a new interview. “I always thought: ‘They definitely find it terrible, they will hate it.'”

This uncertainty accompanied him for years. Even after the writing of songs that are now considered legendary. “I always apologized and was totally embarrassed,” said May about “Mojo”. “It never really went away.”

Roger Taylor also had stage fright in songwriting

Not only May fought with self -doubt. Drummer Roger Taylor also admitted that they had similar fears. “I usually first recorded a small demo to see how it matters,” he recalled.

Taylor pointed out that he and May had a small advantage over John Deacon. “We could both sing.” Nevertheless, he praised Freddie Mercury, who always played an important role in creative work. “We always said: ‘You are the leader.’ And he said: ‘No, no – I’m just the singer.’ “

Will new music from Queen come soon?

In the same interview, Brian May indicated that new Queen music was quite possible.

“I think it could happen,” says May. “Roger and I constantly write new things. Developing ideas and work in our studios. Perhaps the beginning of a new queen song is right in front of me. It only depends on whether the idea gets ripe enough-whether this seed can really grow.”

Roger Taylor had already indicated in October that he and May were open to new recordings. “If we have the feeling of having good material – why not? We can still play, we can still sing. So there is nothing against it.”

The last studio album of Queen – officially under the name Queen + Paul Rodgers – was published in 2008. Since 2011, the band has been touring Adam Lambert as a singer, but has not yet published a new studio album with him.
