“It’s still being negotiated and I think we’re on the right track,” said the Bundestag Vice President on Sunday evening on the ZDF program “Berlin Direkt”. “We will see tomorrow whether it has led to a result so that we can discuss it in the Bundestag in the first reading.” In the traffic light coalition, the FDP and the Greens in particular are currently struggling to find a compromise. The Greens are insisting that it be passed in Parliament before the summer recess. Kubicki said it’s still technically possible, but not that crucial. Thoroughness comes before speed. It is therefore important that the traffic light as a whole no longer allows itself to make any mistakes on this subject.
The bill requires new and replaced heaters to be powered by at least 65 percent renewable energy by 2024. However, there should be a number of exceptions. The coalition had decided that the law should come into force on January 1, 2024, possibly with extended transition periods.
