BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – In the debate about new corona protection measures in view of the increasing number of infections, FDP parliamentary group leader Christian Dürr wants to wait for an expert report. “It would be nonsense if politicians decided to take protective measures before the non-partisan expert recommendations were available,” Dürr told the “Tagesspiegel” (Sunday). Just because a measure sounds good doesn’t mean it has to be effective, Dürr pointed out. “We cannot decide on restrictions on fundamental rights for fun and frolics.”

At the end of June, an evaluation report by the Corona Expert Council will provide information on which measures are effective. “I rely on the evaluation report,” Dürr told the newspaper. At the same time, the state must prepare well for autumn and winter. “This includes the digitization of the health authorities or a reasonable virus variant screening,” Dürr named as examples. This is the task of the Minister of Health./htz/DP/men
