FCS detained a Russian for sending cartridges to the “Kalashnikov” in the United States

FCS: Parcels to the USA with cartridges from the Kalashnikov assault rifle were found at the post office in the Stavropol Territory

Customs officers stopped a smuggling channel from Russia to the United States, organized by a Russian citizen through international mail, informs press service of the FTS.

“In the course of operational-search activities, customs officers at the post offices of the Stavropol Territory identified and seized 11 international parcels, in which there were 46 magazines for Kalashnikov-designed assault rifles and machine guns. Parcels were sent under fictitious names,” the message said.

According to the examination, these stores were also produced by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense, but they are in service in Russia.

Searches of the suspect’s home and garage found ammunition manufacturing equipment, 967 shell casings, 1,013 bullets and 172 magazines. “On the fact of smuggling of military products, criminal cases were initiated under Part 1 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code,” the FCS added. The maximum penalty under this article is up to seven years in prison.
