FCG, The Prince’s Foundation & the UK-German Connection enable German students to take an educational trip to Dumfries House in Scotland

GERMAN PUPILS: 14 TO 18 YEARS OLD CAN APPLY FOR THE YOUTH SEMINAR UNTIL 16 SEPTEMBER 2022

Berlin : In cooperation with The Prince’s Foundation and the UK-German Connection, the Fashion Council Germany enables a total of forty students from Germany and Great Britain to look behind the scenes of the fashion industry and explore what the future of textiles could look like. The aim of the cooperation is to promote exchange between the two countries and generations and to learn about sustainable practices in the craft and production of fashion products.

The youth seminar, entitled ‘Future Textiles: Field, Farm & Fashion’, will take place from 21st to 26th October 2022 at Dumfries House in Scotland. Dumfries House is The Prince’s Foundation’s central educational facility and occupies 2,000 acres of land with numerous public educational and recreational facilities, in addition to a Grade I listed 18th-century manor house.

During the five-day seminar, the young people will attend workshops on manual skills, sustainable practices and cultural exchange. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to attend the FASHION FUTURE conference organized by the Fashion Council Germany in partnership with The Prince’s Foundation. They can get in touch with young designers and experts and gain personal insights into the fashion industry.

The participants of the youth seminar will:

  • Participate in handicraft workshops (e.g. natural dyeing, hand knitting, sewing machine skills).
  • Gain knowledge about sustainable fashion while building relationships with peers from the UK and Germany
  • Get insights into sectors of British and German fashion brands and designers

The application period for students is still up to and including Friday, September 16, 2022. A total of 20 students from Germany and 20 students from Great Britain will take part. The costs for this are borne by the UK-German Connection. This includes arrival and departure, local transport as well as accommodation and meals on site.
