7th professional station
Moritz Leitner’s time at FC Zurich is over after a year. As the Swiss champions announced on Saturday, the central midfielder’s expiring contract will not be extended. The 29-year-old came to Zurich from Norwich City on a free transfer last summer and was not part of the permanent staff under coach André Breitenreiter due to an injury. The former Dortmunder played a total of eleven games.
In the Transfermarkt interview in October last year, Leitner explained that he “deliberately only signed for one year”. “That was what I wanted because I experienced a great disappointment at my last station. I wanted to see if it fits on a human level and in terms of feeling. The club must also see whether they want to continue working with me.” This decision has now been made. Zurich was the seventh professional stop in his career.

Along with Leitner, former Braunschweig and Kieler Salim Khelifi (28) and Blaz Kramer (25), who had come to the Swiss metropolis from VfL Wolfsburg II, were also said goodbye, and their working papers are also ending.
