FC Volendam midfielder Carel Eiting does not leave for FC Twente for 500,000 euros. The arbitration case brought by the player has been lost by Eiting. The verdict was announced tonight.
Eiting had asked to dissolve his contract that is still running until 2025 for the offer that FC Twente had made. FC Volendam believes it is entitled to a much higher transfer fee. After exercising the option in the contract, the amount would be around 2.5 million euros.
According to Eiting, there would have been an amount of four tons. The arbitration case finds that the 25-year-old player, however, cannot claim the clause in which the limited transfer fee is mentioned. Last Thursday, the arbitration case was heard at the KNVB Campus in Zeist.
Because the parties came into conflict, Eiting reported sick twice. In preparation against Kortriijk in Belgium and for the second time just before the first league match against Vitesse. Then he was also missing against Go Ahead Eagles.
Consequences statement
It is not yet clear what the consequences of the ruling will be. Earlier, technical director Jasper van Leeuwen of FC Volendam announced that he considered a return to Eiting’s selection possible. Eiting said during the hearing that he felt “unpleasant and unsafe” at the club. In any case, a considerably higher amount will have to be paid by interested clubs than the current offer that FC Twente made.
Interestingly enough, the first competition match that FC Volendam will play on Sunday, September 3, is against FC Twente in its own stadium.
