FC Volendam refuels self-confidence with a handsome win in tropical Germany

Thanks to two goals from Robert Mühren, FC Volendam won the exhibition match against the German Hamburger SV 2-1. At our eastern neighbours, the striker scored from the penalty spot and easily tapped in a cross from Lequincio Zeefuik.

The competition is not going well. After three matches, FC Volendam is at zero points. Things went a lot better against the leader of the Second Bundesliga. With Barry Lauwers under the crossbar and Robert Mühren in the striker, Matthias Kohler’s team started this exhibition game well. Halfway through the match, the current number fifteen in the premier league led 2-0 thanks to two hits from Robert Mühren.

In the second half, Kohler sends a lot of fresh forces into the very hot Hamburg. For example, players such as Fiemawhle, Demircioglu, Marizan, Klomp, Koorndijk, Flint and Gustavo get playing time after the break.

Fifteen minutes before the end, HSV returns to the base with Immanuel Pherai from Amsterdam, 2-1. But partly due to good goalkeeper work by Barry Lauwers, FC Volendam takes the victory.

FC Volendam will resume the competition in a week and a half. On Saturday September 16 in Limburg against Fortuna Sittard.
