It was an unprecedented evening. FC Volendam took promotion to the Eredivisie last week and thus created euphoric scenes in the village. There will be another party on Sunday 8 May: first in the harbour, then in the stadium. The Back and forth will also set sail.
The starting point of the ceremony is the port of Volendam. Here the players are brought in at 3:00 PM by boat from Rederij Volendam Marken Express. Then, by means of the illustrious Back and forth set course from the Zeestraat towards the Kras Stadium.
The players and staff are expected to arrive there at approximately 4:30 PM. Then the spectacle on the field starts with the performances and tributes. The celebration is expected to be completed around 10 p.m.
The field can accommodate up to 9,500 people. There are performances by Gerard Joling, John West, Flak Zullie, John de Bever, Jan Smit and Jan Biggel. Former football player Andy van der Meijde presents the ceremony, where the player of the year and the talent of the year will also be announced.
