FC Volendam player Tayrell W. is one of the suspects in the serious assault of a 20-year-old woman in a nightclub in the Amstelstraat. He recognized himself yesterday in the images distributed by the police in the investigation program Bureau 020 and reported to the police. He has not yet been arrested, but will report to a police station later. The other man is also suspected of assault.
The police showed images of the two suspects in yesterday AT5‘s investigation program Bureau 020. As a result, Tayrell W. reported to the police and informed his club FC Volendam. W. received his first professional contract last June, with which he committed himself to FC Volendam until 2025. A few weeks later, the incident took place in the nightclub.
FC Volendam informs AT5 that it is indeed the relevant player. “We cannot yet say whether his involvement has consequences for his football career. We are currently collecting the facts to arrive at the best possible picture. Then we can take a position,” said FC Volendam spokesman Sonny Sier. .
W. played with Jong Volendam against Scheveningen yesterday. He was substituted in the eightieth minute. Jong Volendam lost that match 1-0.
broken jaw
The incident happened in the night of Saturday 16 to Sunday 17 July. The woman was grabbed by the chest in the nightclub. When she wanted to defend herself against this and push the man away, she was attacked by a second man. He grabbed her by the throat and hit her on the head several times. As she tried to defend herself against this, she received several blows from both men.
Eventually, other visitors and doormen separated the men and the victim. In the hospital it turned out that she had a broken molar and a loose front tooth. Her jaw was also broken in three places.
liquid food
The impact is enormous: she had to be operated on that same day. Eight screws had to be placed in her jaw and they had to be left there for six weeks. All those weeks, the woman had to constantly keep her teeth together, so she could not talk and she could only drink liquid food through a straw.
The second suspect has not yet come forward. The police advises him to do this anyway, otherwise the photos on which he can be seen recognisably will be redistributed.
