Previously, technical manager Wim Jonk and trainer Matthias Kohler successfully challenged their dismissal with the KNVB arbitration committee. They will also receive their salaries until May 1.
Solidarity
On December 1, Van Leeuwen, Jongkind, Jonk and Kohler declared their solidarity with the dismissed chairman, the popular singer Jan Smit. The so-called Team Jonk signed an emotional statement with the headline “We are leaving FC Volendam. We are going to quit FC Volendam.”
The club saw that statement as a request to resign and immediately stopped salary payments. Because Jonk and Kohler had not adhered to the notice periods, Volendam applied to the arbitration committee for compensation. That claim was rejected.
