Trainer Wim Jonk thinks it is still too early to raise the championship flag, but with the 2-1 victory over Jong AZ, FC Volendam has taken the next step towards the Eredivisie. Because competitors FC Emmen and ADO Den Haag did not win, the Volendam team now has an advantageous margin for promotion of eleven points.
When the final whistle sounded and the narrow victory was a fact, there was an explosion of joy in the stadium.

While the music reverberated loudly from the dressing room through the stadium corridor, Jonk spoke his words of perspective. “You cannot relax in this competition. You should only raise the championship flag when the time comes. Until then you should not hoist anything, but we are well on our way.”
In the difficult final phase against Jong AZ, Jonk brought in debutant Koen Blommestijn. The attacker scored nine times for Jong FC Volendam this season and was quite nervous just before his substitute. After that, he enjoyed his first minutes as a professional football player.
