FC Volendam ends uncertainty and confirms new rental deal Stankovic

It was a strange sight when goalkeeper Filip Stankovic walked around the training field of his employer Inter last week. After all, the 20-year-old had already announced at the end of last month that he would enter the Eredivisie with FC Volendam. Today, the PhD student officially announces that the Serb will actually be hired again from the Italian superpower.

After a rough start, Stankovic played a strong season under the bar at FC Volendam. Certainly in the second part of the competition he kept the team from trainer Wim Jonk on his feet several times in decisive situations.

No surprise

It was no surprise to the 20-year-old Serb that he would remain at FC Volendam. “I knew I would come back here. They asked in Italy if I wanted to stay and I said yes,” said Stankovic last month in front of the camera of NH Sports. His father, former international Dejan Stankovic and also manager still had to deal with the last contractual details with FC Volendam at that time. That has now happened and so Stankovic is na Gaetano Oristanio, officially the second reinforcement of FC Volendam for the coming season.

Watch the interview with Filip Stankovic below in which he indicates that he wants to extend his stay at FC Volendam.
