FC Volendam ends suspension of assault suspected footballer

Tayrell Wouter is allowed to play football again for Jong FC Volendam. The club has decided to end his suspension, which was imposed a month and a half ago. The 20-year-old attacker is said to have been involved in a serious one this summer assault of a woman in an Amsterdam nightclub. The footballer denies and after seeing camera images of the incident, the club management is of the opinion that Wouter has not done anything criminal.

The footballer reported to the police at the beginning of October after images of him were shown in AT5’s Bureau 020 investigation program. On the night of July 16 to 17, the woman was grabbed by the chest and when she resisted, she was attacked by a second man. He grabbed her by the throat and hit her several times in the head. While trying to defend herself, she received several blows from both men.

Broken jaw

Eventually, other visitors and doormen separated the men and the victim. At the hospital it turned out that she had a broken tooth and a loose front tooth. Her jaw was also broken in three places.

According to FC Volendam, the images show that Wouter has done everything to break up the fighting visitors. “Wouter has in no way been guilty of a crime or any other reprehensible conduct,” said the statement on the FC Volendam website.

The suspension of the footballer, who has a contract until mid-2025, has been lifted immediately. Wouter is allowed to train again with Jong FC Volendam and can also be used for competitions again. Until the winter break, the team of trainer Kiki Musampa will play four more times in the second division. It is not known whether he is still considered a suspect by the police.
