FC Volendam coach Kohler is disappointed: “Everyone was looking forward to the match against Ajax”

FC Volendam coach Matthias Kohler is disappointed that the match between his club and Ajax will not take place tomorrow evening. On Sunday, the match between Ajax and Feyenoord was stopped after fireworks were thrown on the field several times. As a result, the match against Volendam will be moved and that is very unfavorable according to the trainer: “We are at a huge disadvantage from this in terms of sport.”

The 32-year-old Kohler was therefore forced to completely change the morning training. Now the next opponent is not Ajax, but PSV. “Our weekly schedule is suddenly different. And we have already changed it once to help Ajax because of their European obligations. So you have already helped Ajax once and now you become part of a problem that you have nothing to do with,” says Kohler .

“Everyone was looking forward to this game. Families with children, who may have to take time off work to come and watch,” Kohler continues. “There are only losing parties. This is very disappointing, especially for the supporters. People wanted to see a spectacle at Ajax against FC Volendam.”

No catch-up date yet

It is not yet known when FC Volendam will catch up with the match in the Johan Cruijff Arena. The remainder of Ajax against Feyenoord (35 minutes) will be played tomorrow at 2 p.m. FC Volendam’s next match is now next Saturday. Kohler’s team will then visit leader PSV. Kick-off in Eindhoven is at 6.45 pm.
