FC Volendam drew against NAC Breda in a practice match tonight. The team of trainer Wim Jonk was indeed the better party, but was unable to express that in goals. At the JEKA complex in Breda it remained 0-0.
Volendam appeared in the strongest line-up against NAC Breda, which has been led by former Volendam trainer Robert Molenaar since this season. The only surprise in the lineup was right-back Givairo Read. The only 16-year-old player of Jong Volendam only heard just before kick-off that he was allowed to start. The visitors, who were at a training camp in Vaals last week, received through Franco Antonucci and Walid Ould-Chikh.
For Alex Plat, the match meant a reunion with his old team. The midfielder left the fishing village on a free transfer and played a large part of the game tonight. At Volendam, the returned Gaetano Oristanio was again part of Jonk’s team after the break, as was test player Diego Gustavo. However, NAC Breda could only become dangerous through the speed in the front, but failed to really put goalkeeper Barry Lauwers to the test.
