FC Volendam appeal against suspension; Gaetano Oristanio may be able to play this weekend

FC Volendam is still appealing against the suspension of Gaetano Oristanio. The 20-year-old footballer was suspended for five matches. The club from the premier league may therefore have Oristanio available next weekend.

Oristanio got red in the home game of FC Volendam against AZ. The Italian was penalized for a hard foul and spitting at the referee. The disciplinary committee ruled on the basis of the TV images that Oristanio was guilty of “serious foul play, touching the opponent without being able to play the ball”.

Initially, Volendam was presented with a proposal of four games, plus one conditional suspension. The club protested against this, after which the punishment was more severe. The New Orange is now appealing against that sentence. Under the leadership of Keje Molenaar, the club has built up a file.

Because FC Volendam will appeal against the sentence, trainer Wim Jonk will probably have Oristanio available next weekend. Last weekend he already sat out the first game of the suspension against FC Twente. The appeal suspends the suspension until it is heard again. On Saturday at 4.30 p.m., Volendam will play against Vitesse in-house.
