FC Volendam and Eiting again learn a hard lesson: “Have to score yourself”

FC Volendam ran into an extremely annoying and unnecessary 2-3 defeat tonight. Carel Eiting was good for a goal against Go Ahead Eagles with a beautiful goal, but afterwards the bitter taste of the loss naturally prevailed. “If we want to win, we have to demand that we score ourselves.”

“People look at the score and will say that we deserved more, but it doesn’t work that way. We just have zero points again. Just like against Sparta,” said Eiting about FC Volendam’s third loss in a row. “My feeling is that it starts with the fact that we don’t score ourselves. Of course we also give away the goals easily, but we have to reward ourselves by scoring more.”

Dead Game Moments

Trainer Wim Jonk was deeply disappointed by the defeat. The coach saw that his team had the most claim to a victory, but was left empty-handed due to inattention during three dead game moments. “It’s all just a bit of bad luck. But you also have to be better with each other. While for that you have to reward yourself with a number of good opportunities in order to bring the match to you”, Jonk saw.
