FC Volendam and Achraf Douiri break contract

Achraf Douiri’s contract with FC Volendam for one more season has been extended until mid-2024 with an option for another year. That made the premier divisionist announced today.

The born Amsterdammer made his debut in the first team under trainer Wim Jonk. In the total of eleven games he played, Douiri scored two goals. Mainly his hit in the final phase of the away match against Jong FC Utrecht was important; FC Volendam therefore won 1-0. He has been out of action for the past six months due to an injury.

Remarkably enough, the former player of Buitenveldert and EDO, among others, was turned from right winger to right back. “He came in as a winger, a real box of tricks. He already did that very well, but we saw even more potential in Achraf as an attacking right back,” says technical director Jasper van Leeuwen on the FC Volendam website. “But he also has poison and duel power and is quite fast. That is an interesting package of qualities for a right-back.”

“I am very proud that I have been able to extend my contract with FC Volendam,” says 22-year-old Douiri. “Because this is also the club that gave me the opportunity to make my dream of becoming a professional football player a reality.”
