FC Utrecht sends Henk Fraser away after incident at training camp | Dutch football

FC Utrecht is about to fire Henk Fraser. The reason for this is an incident at the training in Spain. The coach would have grabbed Amin Younes by the throat. Later in the locker room, the incident exploded. A spokesperson for FC Utrecht does not yet want to confirm the news.

Technical director Jordy Zuidam of FC Utrecht witnessed the incident, sources report. He then decided to fire Henk Fraser. Fraser has been working at FC Utrecht since this season. His start was difficult in Galgenwaard. The question was whether he would have ‘survived’ the duel with Sparta at the end of October, he would have lost then.

Criticism from player group

There was, also from the group of players, a lot of criticism of the conservative playing style of the coach. In the weeks leading up to the winter break, however, the club had an upward trend in terms of results.

Before coming to FC Utrecht, Fraser was a trainer at Sparta for a long time. He left that club at the end of last season, after the Spaniards had told his assistant Aleksandar Rankovic to wait. Fraser then declared solidarity. Before that, the born Surinamer was head coach at ADO Den Haag and Vitesse.

Jordy Zuidam, major shareholder Frans van Seumeren and Henk Fraser were not yet available for comment.
