Wing defender Joshua Brenet is part of the selection of FC Twente for the duel with Vitesse. The 27-year-old former PSV player came over from German club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on the final day of the transfer market, as a replacement for Jayden Oosterwolde, who had moved to Parma.
“We are very satisfied with Joshua’s arrival, he can play on both sides,” says trainer Ron Jans, who extended his contract in Enschede for a year. Czech midfielder Michal Sadílek is serving his last match suspension against Vitesse.
FC Twente is in fourth place after twenty matches with 38 points, 2 points more than Vitesse, which takes sixth place. “The season is still long, but this is a competition in which you can do good business if you win,” said Jans.
Although the professional clubs are allowed to use a third of their stadium capacity to receive spectators, FC Twente will keep the gates of the Grolsch Veste closed on Saturday. The club does not want to open the stadium until all season ticket holders and sponsors are welcome. FC Twente also received some disappointed reactions from supporters because of that position. “Of course we understand that. Yet we choose to keep our backs straight,” says general manager Paul van der Kraan. “We want to send a strong signal with this: either all our season ticket holders and sponsors go in, or no one.”
