“Trust him to jump”
He scored in the 5-2 defeat of FC St. Pauli’s U19s in the DFB Junior Cup against Mainz and was sent off after just over an hour. Bennet Winter’s eventful week is now entering a new round: The 18-year-old has signed a professional contract with the Kiezklub, which is valid from summer 2023.
Not only the previous week was eventful for Winter, but the whole autumn. In the second team of the brown and white he was allowed to play eight times as a joker, scored one goal and then set one exclamation mark after the other in the U19s. The last five goals of the FCSP youth team were all scored by Winter, who almost single-handedly scored a point in the 2-2 win over Werder and a hat-trick in the 3-0 win against Kiel. Against Mainz followed another positive with the cup goal, but with the dismissal after assault then also an inglorious highlight.
“We continue to give young players the chance and the space to assert themselves in the professional business if possible,” explained St. Pauli sports director Andras Bornemann. Carsten Rothenbach, head of the U23s, said: “We already brought Bennet Winter up to the men’s division this season to get him used to the high demands. We see great potential in Bennet and believe he is capable of making the leap to the professional level.”
Under-19 center forward Bennet Winter receives a professional contract.
From July 1, 2023, the young attacker will be part of the professional squad. In addition to his appearances with the A-Juniors, the 18-year-old has already played eight times for the U23s this season and scored one goal. #fcsp
