Expiring contract
Five games, five wins: At FC St. Pauli things have been going well so far in the football year 2023. The same applies to the attacking force Lukas Daschner, who was in the starting XI of the “Kiezkicker” in all games in the second half of the season. After media reports about a possible extension of his expiring contract, the 24-year-old now spoke about his future himself – which, if he has his way, lies at the Millerntor.

“We spoke for the first time two weeks ago,” said Daschner, who can be used variably on the wings as well as in the center of the attack, in an interview with the “table football” knowledge. “And we will continue the talks. I feel very comfortable here, my girlfriend too. I get along really well with the guys and it’s a great environment in a great city,” continued the native of Duisburg. Daschner, who was only used sporadically towards the end of the first series under Timo Schultz, is back on the FCSP offensive under his successor Fabian Hürzeler. He was accordingly “happy that I’m now part of the starting lineup in every game and I think I’ll pay it back with good performances.”
Daschner switched from his training club MSV to Hamburg in 2020 for 350,000 euros, has doubled its market value since then and was last considered by Transfermarkt in autumn 2022 with an appreciation of 250,000 euros. After five wins in a row, St. Pauli could set a club record in the second Bundesliga with another three in the upcoming game against seventh-placed Paderborn. Six wins in a row only come once in the third-rate Regionalliga Nord. The team scored seven threes in a row in the 2nd Bundesliga North in 1974/75. The team was unimpressed by the possible best value in the single-track second division, Daschner assured: “It doesn’t matter to us. It’s not about the series for us, it’s about our aspiration to want to win every game. (…) We are satisfied with the run. But we also know that we still have a lot of work ahead of us, and the coach makes that clear in his analyses.”
