Hamburg (AP) – Second division soccer team FC St. Pauli canceled training on Saturday. The club announced that this happened “due to further suspected cases of corona in the squad and in the environment of the licensed team”.
The evening before, the team played 1-1 against their neighbors 1. FC Nürnberg at the Millerntor Stadium. Captain Philipp Ziereis was already absent from the game due to a Covid 19 disease. The obligatory rapid tests the day after yielded further positive results.
“Against this background, the decision was made that, as a precautionary measure, no team training will take place for the time being,” it said. The confirmation of the preliminary findings by means of a PCR test is announced for Sunday.
