FC St. Pauli brings victory at Hansa Rostock over time

Threesome for Elversberg & Magdeburg

FC Magdeburg and surprise team SV Elversberg allowed SC Paderborn to start their journey home without points.

The brown-whites came to the Baltic Sea with a weak record from their last away games at the “Kogge”, and this time too the FCH seemed to be in the mood for a surprise. After a hand penalty converted by Júnior Brumado in the 9th minute (caused by Eric Smith), the guests from Kiez set off a fireworks display that lasted less than ten minutes and were already leading 3-1 after 23 minutes. Manolis Saliakas (15th), Marcel Hartel (18th) and Oladapo Afolayan (23rd) scored the goals for Hamburg, who fell behind for only the third time this season. In the end, we took something countable from all three games and won twice. Júnior Brumado (80th) scored the next goal for Hansa to make it 2-3 with a penalty after Karol Mets fouled Juan-José Perea. In the end, the Rostock team even had a sniff of an equalizer.

The FCSP is the only team in the 2nd league to remain undefeated. In the table, St. Pauli distanced itself from Hamburger SV by three points and was able to increase its lead over the first non-promotion spot to seven points. Holstein Kiel could reduce the gap to St. Pauli to four points on Sunday. The city derby against HSV takes place at Millerntor on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Elversberg clearly beats Paderborn – victory for Magdeburg in Osnabrück

Newly promoted SV Elversberg is higher up in the 2nd Bundesliga and has secured itself in the top group with a confident home win. Coach Horst Steffen’s team clearly defeated SC Paderborn 4-1 (1-1) on Saturday and is in third place in relegation until at least the evening game between Fortuna Düsseldorf and FC Schalke 04. The match winner was attacker Luca Schnellbacher, who turned the deficit around with Sebastian Klaas (22nd) with his two goals (41st minute/50th) shortly before and shortly after halftime and thus put Elversberg on the right track. Paul Stock (57th) and Maurice Neubauer (60th) also scored for the Saarlanders.

VfL Osnabrück’s lack of success continues even after the change of coach. The bottom of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga lost the first game after parting ways with Tobias Schweinsteiger on Saturday with 0:2 (0:1) under interim coach Martin Heck against 1. FC Magdeburg, who had previously not won eight times in a row. Barış Atik (52nd minute) and Luca Schuler (71st) ensured that Magdeburg’s negative series ended with their goals.
