“Schalke were already wild. We also had a good day and scored one or two goals on nothing. But I have to say, that was too cheaply defended,” Ginczek said according to “WAZ” during the recording.
The striker moved from Fortuna to the Zebras in the winter. Similar to MSV Duisburg, FC Schalke was also stuck in a negative spiral. In 18th place, MSV is fighting against relegation from the 3rd league.
“If you get into such a negative vortex, it is brutally difficult to get out of it at the end of the season,” explained Ginczek.
The mood at Schalke can also change
Despite the sporting lull, Schalke can always rely on the fans – week after week.
“What you can rely on is the 60,000 people in the stadium. The hut is burning and people are still coming to the stadium,” said the attacker. However, there is also a danger: “Of course the mood changes, I know that too.”
After the club was relegated in 2021, there were ugly scenes and physical attacks on the team in front of the Schalke Stadium – a real scandal. Ginczek warns: “If they are unlucky, they can run around the arena again.”
Another guest on the show was ex-Schalke player Jan Kirchhoff. “There is always a latent dissatisfaction at Schalke, that was also the case in my time. It’s never enough around the club, it’s just catching up with the club,” said the former Bundesliga professional.
