Bundesliga returnees Schalke 04 have loaned out Reinhold Ranftl to the 24-time Austrian football champions Austria Wien for the coming season.
The club announced on Tuesday. The Viennese also have a purchase option for the 30-year-old. Ranftl was used in 16 competitive games last season and prepared one goal.
His contract with the Royal Blues, who brought him from LASK Linz last year, runs until 2024.
“Together with him, we agreed that he should definitely gain match practice in the coming months. Therefore, both sides consider a loan to be the best possible option,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder.
