FC Schalke finds new coach

According to media reports, Frank Kramer will be the new coach at FC Schalke 04, who have been promoted to the Bundesliga – probably also because he is available at a bargain price.

As “Sky”, “Bild” and “WAZ” unanimously reported on Monday, Frank Kramer is taking over FC Schalke 04 as head coach.

The Revierklub itself only said in an official club announcement that it wanted to present the new head coach on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., but did not give a name.

Kramer had trained Arminia Bielefeld until the end of April, but the East Westphalians parted ways with their coach at the end of the season.

The 50-year-old had previously looked after SpVgg Greuther Fürth, Fortuna Düsseldorf and the German U20 selection.

FC Schalke 04: Mike Büskens moves back into the second rank

Mike Büskens took over the coaching position at Schalke after the dismissal of Dimitrios Grammozis at the beginning of March and led the club to promotion.

But because Büskens moved back into second place, sports director Rouven Schröder had to look for a coach. His good relationship with Kramer was ultimately the deciding factor for him, according to “Sky”.

According to “Bild”, however, Kramer is “at best a B solution” at FC Schalke. In addition to his personal relationship with Schröder, the moderate salary requirement also spoke for the surprise solution.

Frank Kramer on a bargain price for FC Schalke 04?

Kramer is said to earn less than a million euros per season at Schalke – an important recruitment criterion for the clammy club.

Especially since ex-coach Grammozis’ contract had been extended until 2023 because of the promotion. The German-Greek should still earn around 100,000 euros per month.

According to “Bild”, Kramer’s Bielefeld contract also has an exit clause, so that no transfer is due. In addition, he is said to not bring any assistant coaches to Gelsenkirchen.

Other candidates, writes the “WAZ”, would not have wanted to work with the existing coaching team around Büskens.

According to reports, news about further player transfers will follow at Schalke in the course of the week.
