FC Schalke 04: Million deal officially confirmed

Warm rain of money for FC Schalke 04: Amine Harit is leaving the Bundesliga relegated team for good and staying with his loan club Olympique Marseille. The Royal Blues confirmed that on Saturday.

“We are happy that all contractual conditions have now officially been met. We wish Amine all the best and every success for his future in France – both sportingly and privately,” said S04 sports director André Hechelmann.

According to media reports, a purchase obligation linked to two conditions applies.

  • Firstly, Harit had to complete at least 15 appearances for Marseille this season. But he even played 16 times for the southern French.
  • Secondly, OM had to finish the season in Ligue 1 in at least tenth place. This condition was also exceeded, with Harit and Co. even finishing third, behind champions Paris Saint-Germain and RC Lens.

FC Schalke 04 collects five million euros

Thanks to the now fixed Harit change, Schalke is said to be collecting around five million euros – a sum that will help the clammy club on its mission to get back up in the 2nd Bundesliga.

With Harit’s transfer to Marseille, a chapter full of misunderstandings for the 26-year-old offensive player and Schalke ends. In 2017, the 16-time Moroccan international switched to Gelsenkirchen for eight million euros.

In his debut season, he not only celebrated second place in the championship with the S94, but also scooped the “Rookie of the Year” award in the Bundesliga.

After that things went downhill with Schalke and Harit. His indiscipline and unpunctuality were often noticed. His performance gradually weakened.

The loan to Marseille followed in 2021, which was extended by another year last summer and has now resulted in a permanent change.
