FC Schalke 04 is finding it difficult to find a coach

FC Schalke 04 is pushing ahead with plans for the Bundesliga after being promoted immediately. Above all, the trainer question must be clarified. But this is where the problem appears to be.

After numerous names were still haunting the rumor mill following the dismissal of Dimitrios Grammozis at the beginning of March, it has become relatively quiet in recent weeks about possible coaching candidates at FC Schalke 04.

Who should follow interim coach Mike Büskens, who led the Royal Blues back to the Bundesliga with eight wins in nine games? This topic occupies the club and is essential for further squad planning.

But according to information from the “kicker”, the question of the trainer is not really progressing. Schalke are “having a hard time searching,” writes the trade journal.

FC Schalke 04 “doesn’t want a hasty shot”

One of the reasons for this: the complicated constellation on the bench, where promotion trainer Büskens will continue to sit on the new trainer’s neck more than proverbially as an assistant.

Schalke’s sports director Rouven Schröder recently said in a media round that there would be “no quick shot” when it came to coaching and that the coach who comes to Büskens had to be “really good”.

However, these words were more than six weeks ago.

Ralf Fährmann still a substitute at FC Schalke 04?

Irrespective of the Büskens successor, however, there are already initial tendencies in some positions in the squad, as the “kicker” further reports.

Accordingly, Ralf Fährmann will probably have to be content with a place on the bench in the future. Those responsible do not consider him “the right person” for the Bundesliga, according to the “kicker”.

Internal considerations are therefore still being made as to whether the open post in the goal after Martin Fraisl’s departure should be filled by an experienced keeper or whether a talented player should take on the task.

FC Schalke 04: Two loan players should stay

In defense, however, the club hopes that Malick Thiaw will bring in up to ten million euros as the most expensive player.

With this money, ManCity loan Ko Itakura will be further committed. The Japanese should definitely be held. The same applies in midfield to Darko Churlinov, who is set to come permanently from VfB Stuttgart after his loan.

In attack, meanwhile, they are still looking for an ideal attacking partner for Simon Terodde. Marius Bülter (ten goals and 13 assists) does not meet the demands of the Royal Blues for a league higher.
