Bundesliga bottom FC Schalke 04 gambled away the win in the friendly at Rapid Wien. After a 2-0 lead, the Revier-Elf only managed a 2-2 draw in the Austrian capital.
The goals for Schalke were scored by regional league player Soichiro Kozuki (8th minute) and striker Simon Terodde (31st). Christoph Knasmüller (49th) and Roman Kerschbaum (65th) scored for the hosts.
In the first game of the winter preparations, Schalke coach Thomas Reis had to do without a number of injured professionals and national soccer players.
The Bundesliga team will play two more friendlies at Hajduk Split on December 16 (6:00 p.m.) and on December 22 at VfL Osnabrück before Christmas.
After that there is no training, on January 2nd the departure to the training camp in Belek (Turkey) is planned.
