Max Meyer was once considered one of the most promising talents in German football, playing for the German championship and in the Champions League with FC Schalke. Not much is left of the splendor of the career start around nine years ago. After leaving Gelsenkirchen in August 2018, Meyer is now starting his fourth club post.
The 26-year-old lasted only half a season at top Turkish club Fenerbahce. Meyer did not find his way in the team around ex-world champion Mesut Özil in the first half of the season and was only in the starting eleven for the Istanbul team three times.
He had previously had similar difficulties at Crystal Palace in England and when he was loaned to 1. FC Köln last season, when he was also mainly used as a noble joker.

The native of Oberhausen has no further settling-in period in Istanbul, where he still has a contract until the summer of 2023. He is on loan at FC Midtjylland until the end of the current season.
