After being relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga, Schalke 04 continues to work on the squad for the “mission to get back up”. While the commitment of central defender Timo Baumgartl is nearing completion, two other professionals should no longer have a future in Gelsenkirchen.
As the “WAZ” reports, Blendi Idrizi and Mehmet-Can Aydin should leave the club this summer. For Aydin, who comes from Schalke’s Knappenschmiede, there are said to be inquiries from Turkey. It is not known which clubs are interested in the right-back.
Last season, the 21-year-old made 16 Bundesliga appearances for the Royal Blues. There were also two appearances in the DFB Cup. However, especially towards the end of the season, Aydin no longer played a major role.
Idrizi should also leave Schalke 04
There are no concrete offers for Blendi Idrizi at the moment. The German-Kosovar switched from Fortuna Köln to the second team at Schalke 04 in January 2020. Since then, the attacking midfielder has only appeared three times in the Bundesliga.
The 25-year-old spent the past season on loan at Jahn Regensburg. Idrizi was on the field in 19 games across all competitions for the second division relegated team. He managed to get a template. “Until the end of the summer transfer window” the right foot should be considered a candidate for sale.
To what extent Idrizi is planned by coach Thomas Reis if there is no change is not known. Numerous stars have already left the club in the current transfer period. With Aydin and Idrizi, at least two more should be added by the end of August.
So far, those responsible have reacted to the departures by signing Ron Schallenberg, Paul Seguin, Marius Müller, Lino Tempelmann and Bryan Lasme.
