FC Schalke 04 does not have to pay Gazprom “a single euro”.

At least since the relegation from the Bundesliga, the financial situation at FC Schalke 04 has been more than tense. The separation from the long-standing main sponsor Gazprom initially increased concerns. But apparently there is more good news for the Gelsenkirchener.

FC Schalke 04 worked with Gazprom for around 15 years. The cooperation with the Russian state-owned company was always controversial. Due to Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the Royal Blues finally pulled the ripcord at the end of February and parted ways with the natural gas company prematurely.

According to “Sport Bild”, Schalke received nine million euros from Gazprom for the current season. The good news: Although the energy giant has not been visible as a sponsor anywhere since the termination, the club allegedly does not have to pay back “one euro” of the amount already transferred to Gazprom in full.

FC Schalke 04 has already found a new main sponsor in Vivawest. According to the sports magazine, the housing agency will transfer two million euros to the miners by the end of the season.

In addition, the contract is probably dated until 2023. In the coming season, Vivawest is said to be paying four million euros. In the event of promotion, this amount is likely to increase, it is said.

FC Schalke 04 probably with the right to terminate

According to “Sport Bild”, FC Schalke 04 also has a unilateral right of termination for the coming summer. “Ruhr24” also recently reported on this option.

The contractual clause is intended to enable the second division club to be able to part with main sponsor Vivawest in the event of a better offer without consequences.

The new partnership with REWE provides further financial help. The supermarket chain is the official training sponsor. As a result of the deal, Schalke 04 is said to have earned around 2.5 million euros more than planned by the end of the season.
