For sporting reasons alone, the mood around FC Schalke 04 has once again been a powder keg for weeks. Before the duel with leaders FC St. Pauli in the 2nd Bundesliga (from 6:30 p.m.), new announcements from CEO Matthias Tillmann ensure that the mood among the S04 supporters is guaranteed not to get any better.
As the club boss publicly announced in the club magazine “Schalker Kreisel”, there will soon be price increases at FC Schalke 04, which will fully affect club members and stadium visitors.
“It will require some further tougher measures on our way, which will be unusual for some and will not cause applause everywhere in the club, but they are unavoidable,” Tillmann made it clear that it will be more expensive to be a member of FC Schalke or to attend the home games in the Veltins Arena.
On the one hand, the catering prices for Schalke’s home games, for example, would be increased. Furthermore, price increases in membership fees are also to be expected. Tillmann spoke of no alternative measures to keep budgets for the sporting sector at a level so that a return to the first class could also be played in the future.
Tillmann emphasizes the importance of open communication
“These affect our fans and members, we are aware of that,” said Tillmann about the club’s planned measures. The CEO emphasized the importance of open communication and called for understanding at all levels for the upcoming increases in prices.
Before the 24th second division matchday, FC Schalke is only in 14th place in the table and is in serious danger of relegation. Based on the pure market value of the Royal Blues squad, Karel Geraerts’ team actually belongs in the top third of the table according to all usual estimates.
