FC Schalke 04 | Better offer? Gladbach attracts midfielder

The Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04, threatened with relegation, has to worry about the whereabouts of one of its regular players. After the interest of 1. FC Union Berlin became known, Borussia Mönchengladbach is now apparently also positioning itself.

The future of S04 midfielder Alex Král is still unclear a few weeks before the end of the season. After “Bild” reported on a possible offer from Union Berlin for the Czech international at the beginning of May, Gladbach has now put his hat in the ring. This is reported by the “transfermarkt.de” portal.

Accordingly, Borussia even submitted a “much more interesting” offer from a financial point of view. The report does not provide any more detailed figures.

One thing is clear: unlike Union Berlin, Gladbach cannot score points with the sporting perspective after a disappointing season, which will end in midfield in the Bundesliga table. The Köpenickers, on the other hand, have booked the ticket for international business again, even entering the Champions League for the first time is possible.

The third option for Král is staying at FC Schalke 04. According to the report, this should continue to be an issue. However, if the Revierklub were to be relegated to the upper house after just a year, further cooperation would be extremely unrealistic.

Alex Král could stay longer in the Bundesliga

The 25-year-old came to FC Schalke on loan from Russian club Spartak Moscow at the start of the season. Since FIFA last Monday extended the special transfer regulation issued last year for foreign players and coaches from Ukrainian and Russian clubs until the end of the 2023/24 season, Král could stay longer in Germany.

Anyone who has left Ukraine or Russia because of the Russian war of aggression and does not wish to return after the current season can thus unilaterally suspend their contract with the approval of FIFA. The prerequisite is that the player has informed his parent club about this step by July 1st. However, the rule no longer applies to players who decided to stay last year.
