Vivawest has been the new main sponsor of FC Schalke 04 since March 5. However, it was previously unclear how long the contract between the housing company and the second division club will be valid. According to a recent report, the Royal Blues may end the partnership prematurely. It is said that there is even a double blessing in store.
FC Schalke 04 worked with the Russian state-owned company Gazprom for around 15 years. But as a result of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, the miners parted ways with the natural gas company. With the real estate group Vivawest, Schalke were quickly able to present a new main sponsor.
Since then, both sides have kept a secret about the details of the contract. Vivawest only revealed on Twitter that the partnership with the traditional club was only “temporary”. How “Ruhr24Now reported, the signed contract is valid until June 30, 2023.
However, FC Schalke can end the contract with the main sponsor prematurely, it is said. According to this, the Royal Blues can allegedly look for a new company as the main sponsor in the event of promotion and withdraw from the contract with Vivawest prematurely if there is a better offer.
Vivawest wants to continue supporting FC Schalke 04
According to the portal, the cooperation with the housing provider would not automatically end. So Vivawest wants to continue to support FC Schalke. Sponsorship should be possible as part of a premium partnership. In this case, the club would have a double windfall.
But first the miners would have to get a lucrative offer from a willing sponsor. According to media reports, FC Schalke 04 is currently receiving around 4.5 million euros annually from Vivawest. Gazprom allegedly paid around nine million euros after being relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga.
After all, the blue and whites were able to close part of the financial gap that had arisen through a deal with REWE. The supermarket chain can be seen as a sponsor on the training and warm-up shirts. It is not known how much Schalke collect from the business.
