FC Nantes part ways with coach Kombouaré – Aristouy takes over

Aristouy takes over

In the botched 2020/21 season, Antoine Kombouaré kept FC Nantes in Ligue 1 with the help of relegation, finishing in a strong ninth place and lifting the trophy the following season. Now he has to vacate his post shortly before the end of the current round. Again the FCN slipped to the abyss. In the recent Cup final, the team went under the wheels against FC Toulouse, the upcoming opponents in the league (1:5) and lost seven of the last eleven league games, none of which were won. There hasn’t been a win since mid-February.

Instead of Kombouaré, the goal of staying up is now Pierre Aristouy, supported by Oswaldo Vizcarrondo. The team has four games left to get it over the line. Nantes currently has to catch up two points on AJ Auxerre to save the bank. The Bretons hardly have any pressure from the teams behind them.
