FC Inter and KuPS will play in the final of the football Suomen Cup

FC Inter and KuPS will meet in the final of the Finnish Cup in September.

FC Inter and Kuopio Palloseura advanced to the finals of the Finnish Cup on Wednesday.

Inter claimed their place in the final when they defeated HIFK 3-2 on Wednesday.

HIFK started the scoring in the match and took a 1–0 lead when Ifeanyi Ani succeeded in scoring.

The people of Turku took a 2–1 lead when the Ghanaian David Accam shot the ball into the back corner from inside the penalty area in the 68th minute of the game.

Accam managed to score again about ten minutes before the end of the actual game time.

However, HIFK got on top three minutes later when Daan Klinkenberg scored the 2-3 goal.

Right at the end of the match, Ifeanyi Ani received a second yellow card and a red card at the same time.

A narrow victory for KuPS

Kuopio Palloseura took a narrow 1–0 victory over FC Lahti and advanced to the finals as Inter’s club. KuPS celebrated winning the Finnish Cup last year.

KuPS Janis Ikaunieks already took the people from Kuopio to a 1–0 lead at the 14th minute of the game. However, KuPS got cold water down their neck a moment later, when the team’s goalkeeper Take it to Virtanes a red card was shown.

Virtanen met the ball outside the penalty area from his goal and took it in his arms for a moment. The head referee of the match did not hesitate in his decision, but immediately showed the goalkeeper a red card.

Despite their man superiority, Lahti was unable to score a single goal.

The final of the Finnish Cup will be played at the Olympic Stadium on September 17.
