Goalkeeper Michael Verrips was the best man for FC Groningen in De Kuip against Feyenoord, says analyst Rob McDonald.
Verrips kept Pride of the North in the game for a long time, but in the final phase the 1-0 still fell to Feyenoord. A cross from Oussama Idrissi fell in at the far post. Just in that corner, Verrips made a brilliant save moments before, on a shot by the same Idrissi.
McDonald saw Verrips start hesitantly in the first half with crosses. “I think it had to do with the pressure in front of him. If there are three or four defenders in front of you, you think more likely: they will head him away. But after the first shot you saw Verrips grow.”
Verrips receives a score of 8.5 from McDonald. Below you will find the full player report.
