FC Groningen has lost the exhibition match against Hibernian. In Edinburgh, the Scottish number five won 2-1 against the first divisionist last season.
FC Groningen started in Scotland with Leandro Bacuna in the base. Tomas Suslov was missing. The Slovak was recently kicked out of the selection and must recoup his place in the selection. He therefore stayed behind in the Netherlands, where he played with the O21 team in Norg against Werder Bremen O23 (4-1 win).
FC Groningen started well against Hibernian. Kevin van Veen, back on familiar ground, got the ball with some fortune after ten minutes of play and punched in nicely. Nine minutes after the break, the home team came alongside via Josh Campbell and two minutes later the Scottish side scored again.
Kristian Lien made his debut for FC Groningen after an hour of play. The young Norwegian striker got another chance in the final phase, but could not change anything about the score.
