FC Groningen has found a solution for Ramon Pascal Lundqvist, who had ended up on the second plan with the number seventeen of the Eredivisie.
The 25-year-old Swede continues his career with the Norwegian Sarpsborg 08 FF. It is Jørgen Strand Larsen’s former employer before the striker made the switch to FC Groningen. Lundqvist will also become a teammate of former FC Groningen player Simon Tibbling, who is currently under contract.
Not a resounding success
FC Groningen took over Lundqvist from NAC Breda in 2019. His contract ran until mid-2024. In total, the Swedish midfielder played 63 official matches for FC Groningen. He scored eight times in it. Lundqvist’s stay in Groningen was never a resounding success. He never grew into an undisputed starting player. In the 2021/2022 season, Lundqvist was rented out to the Greek Panathinaikos. Expectations were again high on his return, but again the Scandinavian failed to live up to them.

Lundqvist and with him his compatriot Yahya Kalley have not been part of the first selection since the beginning of February. The two were placed in the window and trained with the promises. Kalley packed his bags earlier. The 21-year-old left wing defender is rented out to IFK Norrköping.
