FC Emmen: we are cooperating in an investigation into riots in Volendam

FC Emmen wants to cooperate if there is an investigation into the riots after Saturday’s away match against FC Volendam. Supporters of both clubs came to blows and threw bicycles at each other.

“Both FC Emmen and FC Volendam obviously strongly disapprove of this. This behavior has nothing to do with football. We want all supporters to feel safe at home and away games and both parties put a lot of energy into this,” said FC Emmen. in a comment on the website. “If an investigation into the events in Volendam follows, we will of course cooperate as a club.”

FC Emmen also reports that the riots have been discussed with FC Volendam. The North Holland club says it will take safety measures during the upcoming home games.

In the riots last Saturday night, three officers were injured by beatings, kicks and material thrown at them. A 33-year-old man from Emmen was arrested in Zwolle shortly after the confrontation. More arrests are not ruled out, the police reported this weekend.
