FOOTBALL – FC Emmen has qualified for the final of the playoffs. After the 2-1 win in Breda, the club from Drenthe also beat NAC in Emmen. Emmen won 2-0 thanks to wonderful goals from Zivkovic and Assehnoun.
FC Emmen will meet Almere City FC next Tuesday and Sunday in the final. Lukkien’s men play in Almere on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. and the return is at De Oude Meerdijk on Sunday at 6 p.m.
Almere City settled with VVV-Venlo after ninety minutes, extra time and penalties. After 120 minutes it was 1-1, just like last Wednesday, after which the home club won the penalty shootout 2-0. VVV-Venlo missed all four penalties.
FC Emmen, starting in the same line-up as Thursday in the Rat Verlegh Stadium, wanted an early goal and it almost came. A wonderful free ball from Mark Diemers was shot just wide by Mike te Wierik.
Then there was balance in the game, with Emmen at times very stable and mature on the ball and NAC trying to force a goal with power football. NAC did not get further than a few corners and a rightly rejected goal Ezechiel Banzuzi.
